FUNDAMENTAL SUPPORTIVE PROGRAMMES

Our programmes are well-positioned to offer a safe place for youth who aim to build their skills and competencies in a nurturing environment. The provision of Physical and Psychological safety in our programmes is a crucial prerequisite for enabling individuals at the Center of Abilities to thrive. As described in multiple theoretical and empirical models in our beneficiary training Programmes, individuals’ sense of safety plays a pivotal role in enabling them to prioritize other essential needs, such as love, self-esteem, confidence, and the development of additional attributes and assets like resilience.

Our Fundamental Supportive Programme is characterized by the Psychology of Change Management, Mental Fitness, Health and Safety, Diversity and Inclusion, Equality, Rights and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. All beneficiaries and trainers are required to take this Programme to enable them appreciate and understand the operating principles of Centre of Abilities, our Mission, Vision and Strategy.

The training aims to empower participants with a strong sense of self-esteem and belongingness within a community. It is a programme that promotes the values of hard work, dignified lifestyle, love, environmental health and safety, quality, equality, rights and values, diversity and inclusion, mental fitness and patriotism.

    1. To promote the Sustainable Development Goals.

    2. To promote Environment, Health and Safety.

    3. To promote Diversity and Inclusion.

    4. To foster a sense of Belongingness and Community Support.

    5. To promote Mental Fitness

    6. To promote good Change Management practices.

At Centre of Abilities, we take into consideration two key components:

Component 1:  Physical Safety

This involves creating an environment where individuals feel safe from physical harm, both in terms of interactions with staff and peers, as well as ensuring that the facilities and premises are secure and suitable for the Programme’s activities.

Component 2: Psychological Safety

It refers to fostering supportive and nurturing interactions, encompassing various types of relationships. It also involves actively preventing and addressing any form of abuse, including verbal, emotional, or bullying behavior, to ensure a psychologically safe environment.

The aforementioned multidimensional views of physical and psychological safety are echoed in all our Programmes. Overall, people report feeling safe in Programmes where people build trust and supportive relationships, where people are not concerned about physical or psychological harm, and where people are able to have fun and learn.
